Vision
 
The aim of the Center is to conduct strategically-guided humanities-focussed research, reviews, and education programs on the topic and issue of internal and external migration and of migrants. Such research will comprise the spheres of historical, political, economic, legal and international relations as well as sociological fields.
 
Mission
 
a) Research activities:
 
1)  The work will take into consideration the fact that Turkey is an important locus of international migration and will comprise research studies and analyses of historical, present-day and future migration dynamics both in the context of internal migration in Turkey as well as multi-directional external migration dynamics which also include Turkish migrants who live outside of Turkey. In addition, the research and data will be made available to government agencies and civil institutions.
2)  Conducting assembly of documents amd research with respect to both the current and likely future observed impacts and implications of internal and external migration on Turkish internal and external policy, economy as well as social and cultural structures and dynamics. The research will be shared with interested parties as required.
3) Conduct studies on the issue of Turkish migrants living outside the country
4) Formulation ofstrategies and conducting studies concerning the relationships between migrants and Turkey as well as study of possible contributions to both Turkish internal policy areas and that of the European Union.
5) Evaluation of the relationship between the economic, political and cultural structures of particular nations wherein migrants frequently reside  as well as examination of any resultant changes that occur in such countries.
6) Preparation and application of projects relevant to the areas of activity of the research center as well as collaboration with other institutions and research centers as required.
7) Research will include evaluation  of the regional and global roles of the aforesaid countries as well  as predictions of future conditions.
8) Collaboration with scientists and experts from both Turkey and other countries in studies connected with the area of interest of the research center
9) Establish collaborative resource research and co-ordination with university departments and migration research specialists from the respective countries.
10) To conduct internationally standardized and accepted research on the characteristics, profiles, needs, expectations, problems, values, and other areas pertaining to migrants living abroad.
 
b) Education activities:
 
1) Arranging and hosting joint seminars, symposiums, conferences and other related activities with research centers and with universities both in Turkey and in the respective countries where such migrants are most populous. 
2)  Consultancy and provision of training services with state institutions and various levels of education and teaching institutions from foreign countries as part of the scope and title of "research activities".
3) Arranging certificate programs with respect to internal and external migration issues.
 
c) Publication activities:
 
1) To make presentations on the basis of theory, method and applications areas related to the aims of the Center
2) Conducting preparatory studies for an internationally qualified academic journal that is published once or twice a year and taking over the secretariat of these studies.
3) To publish reports on specific topics, regions, countries or periods.
4) Publication of bulletins.
5) Creation of a comprehensive archive.
