 Recently, Harran University got approval for the project “Strengthening of research and training capabilities for Virtual Reality applications in the private and governmental sector” within the framework of ERASMUS+ Strategic Partnerships. The opening ceremony and the 1st Workshop were held at the Conference Hall of Şanlıurfa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ŞUTSO). The "Virtual Reality Collaboration Project", in which Harran University cooperates with the German Otto-Von-Guericke-University Magdeburg, the German Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation IFF,  the Dutch company VisionAir3D and Karacadağ Development Agency and is supported by Şanlıurfa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, aims to strengthen cooperation between the private sector and higher education institutions in order to increase the capacity of the regional workforce and increase the general attractiveness of the western part of the GAP Region. The opening speeches were hold by Chairman of ŞUTSO, İsmail Demirkol, Vice Rector of Harran University, Professor. Dr. Ali Sarıışık, Deputy Secretary General of Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality, Seyfettin Gencer, programa, Director of Science Industry and Technology Provincial Directorate, Zafer Aydın, General Manager of Şanlıurfa Teknokent. Dr. Kasım Yenigün and Dr. Tobias Reggelin from Otto-Von-Guericke-University Magdeburg by means of an online presentation. After the opening speeches, Assistant Professor Dr. Fred Barıs Ernst, lecturer at Harran University, Faculty of Engineering and manager of this project, presented details about the ERASMUS+ program and the "Virtual Reality Collaboration Project" project. 
Following the opening ceremony, the 1. Workshop of this project for members of Faculty of Engineering took place on the premises of ŞUTSO. The workshop consisted of introductory lessons on virtual reality and round-table discussion to learn more about the needs and expectations of different departments of this faculty.
