WELCOME TO CROP SCIENCES AND TECHNOLOGY M.Sc. PROGRAM
Dear Candidates,
I am very pleased to announce that the University of Harran has opened a new M.Sc. program for international students throughout the Middle East - Northern Africa and Central Asian Turkish Republics. Education language is fully English. Crop Sciences and Technology (CST) program is a multidisciplinary program and built up with the joint effort of departments of Field Crops, Horticulture, Soil and Plant Nutrition and Plant protection mainly. Furthermore, departments of Agricultural structures and irrigation, Agricultural Economics and Food Engineering of Faculty of Engineering will support the CST.
The qualified lecturers with over 80 grades of English will involve in the program. We aimed to attract graduate students from relevant departments of faculty of agricultures in neighboring countries. Inspecting the relevant departments of faculty of agricultures in given countries, we realized that CST departments are quite common. Graduates from CST with M.Sc. degree when they return to their home country can be employed surely.
Faculty of Agriculture of Harran University offers relatively adequate infrastructure for incoming students such as laboratories and field trials. Furthermore, CST students can utilize from research infrastructures of local agricultural research institute of government.
Social life in the campus area and the city center is quite attractive, therefore none of incoming student will be bored. There is central cafeteria, male and female student dormitories, indoor sport hall, indoor swimming pool, tennis courts, library, bank, post office etc.
Submission: ( look at the academic calender)
A candidate should have a license diploma received from a 4-year faculty of Agriculture. A 55 grade from ALES exam of Turkish Higher Education Board of equivalent grade from an international general aptitude test exam is also required (look at the equivalent exam). Finally, a 55 English exam grade of YOKDIL or YDS of Turkish Higher Education Board exams or equivalent grades from internationally recognized English exam is prerequisite for submission. Documents for submission are inspected by a commission established by the Institute of Natural and Applied Sciences of Harran university ( Look at the equivalent English exams).
Admission:
As a candidate is decided to be admitted by the commission, a supervisor is assigned supervisor and student both can select the course to be taken in each semester (look at the curriculum). If the supervisor finds the inadequate background of candidate for proposed M.Sc. education promptly, he or she can advise the candidate to take preparatory class for one or two semesters. These courses are not considered as M.Sc. course.
CST program consists of 60 European credit transfer system (ECTS) with 7 courses, 1 seminar and 1 thesis study. CST is a 4- semester program and it must be finished at least 6 semesters (preparatory class is excluded). (look at the details for CST education)
Program competencies:
At the end of this program, graduates can gain ability and knowledge to identify problems, propose some solutions, plan experiments, evaluate data obtained from test studies in relevant departments.
Graduates can also gain knowledges and ability to contribute agricultural science through producing scientific information for fulfilling international rantability, sustainability and the quality in various fields in Agriculture to present one’s studies to relevant stake holders through written, oral and other methods.
Graduates gain ability to take over responsibility and propose some alternative solution methods for unexpected problems arise.
Graduates gain awareness about professional ethic rules and improvement strong interrelations with relevant institutions in abroad.
