The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering has implemented the four year mechanical engineering program since 1993. The graduates of the Mechanical Engineering Program will have the following basic characteristics besides the principal and genel qualifications of an engineer:

• Designing and managing skills for mechanical components, systems and processes,
• Designing and managing skills for thermal, systems and processes,
• Analytical skills to solve technical problems of mechanical engineering.

The curriculum is designed to cover courses in mechanical design, theory of machines, thermo-fluids, system dynamics-control after a background in mathematics and fundamental engineering. From 2017-2018 spring semester intern students programmme will be started. Students who complete the courses in undergraduate education will work in businesses, industry and project office to improve their Engineering applications and practice New system and product design, during a semester.
Harran University, Department of Mechanical Engineering Undergraduate program, A  total of 724 undergraduate students are enrolled in the program currently. there are a total of 430 students in the Normal  Program, 57 female and 373 male  there are  294 students, 33 female and 261 male Evening Education Program.
Students who successfully pursue their undergraduate programs are also eligible for the Double Major Program; Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering departments acording to their choise. If the student successfully completes both sections, he / she will receive two separate diplomas.
There is also a Minor Program in the department. In addition, our students can study up to 1 year in universities that we deal with abroad with the Erasmus program.
Harran University Department of Mechanical Engineering as of 2017; 1 Professor, 1 Associate Professor in the field of Construction and Manufacturing; 1 Associate Professor, 2 Assistant Professor in the field of Thermodynamics 1 Professor, 1 Associate Professor in the field of Energy ; 1 Professor, 1 Assistant Professor in the field of Mechanic. There are totally 9  faculty member, 3 Instructors and 8 Research Assistants .in department.
