In general, the word computing is used to mean any purposeful activity that requires, makes use of, or creates a computer. In our country, as in the world, informatics-oriented programs are among the most preferred fields of young people. Although the programs in informatics universities today are referred to by different names by ACM (The Association for Computing Machinery), in general;

They fulfill the duties and responsibilities assigned to them in five programs. Since there are many common features in these five areas, their curricula are similar to each other. In a graphic published by ACM, it is stated that the change in information and communication technologies in the 1990s changed the aims of these five basic programs and is shown below. As can be seen, before 1990, while Electrical and Computer Engineering served as a hardware-oriented program, Computer Science was known as a software-based department. The developments after the 1990s have enabled Computer Engineering to serve both in the field of hardware and software. However, programs on Computer Science and Software Engineering do not deal with hardware.
